On the evening of Friday August 12, 2022, Registrars put on their dancing shoes to celebrate the elevation of Acting Judges of the High Court; HL Samuel Emokor, HL Flavia Matovu, HL Susan Kanyange and HL Mary Ikit at a surprise dinner held at Protea Hotel.
The four, who previously served as Registrars, are among the recently sworn-in Judges of the High Court.
A visibly excited Chief Registrar, HW Sarah Langa Siu, said she was happy to be a part of the journey. "We have looked forward to this day and it has come. I want to thank God for you," she said.
She said the journey of the new Judges spoke of courage, resilience, patience, and the spirit of never giving up.
"My lords I have enjoyed working with you, you have served the Judiciary very well, you have been an asset to it. I wish you the very best, enjoy the High Court," she said.
The Chief Registrar, said their Lordships should not forget them and that they should be their ambassadors in the High Court.
She urged their Lordships in waiting to polish up their CVs because there are 10 positions for Judges of the High Court and six positions for full Registrars up for grabs this Financial Year.
The CR appreciated their worships for making the dinner possible, and thanked the organizing committee, the emcees and their Lordships for accepting to be part of the event.
The Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, HW Rosemary Bareebe, described it as an evening of joy and a journey of hard work and faith.
Speaker after speaker testified of the journey of faith and thanked the new Judges for being good mentors and team builders.
Hon. Justice David Matovu welcomed the new Judges to the High Court and urged them to work hard.
Each of the new Judges took time to thank their worships for celebrating their elevation.
They further thanked the Registrars for all the support they gave them to make their work doable. They equally thanked the Chief Registrar for entrusting them with positions they have been holding and also supporting them.
The evening came to an end with cake cutting and gift giving. The dinner was moderated by HW Jamson Karemani and HW Juliet Harty Hatanga.
